Through engaging, hands-on activities, students learn key ecological concepts
such as adaptation, competition, and biodiversity.

These activities are specifically designed to provide students with the awareness and knowledge needed for a deeper understanding of the purpose and rationale for their stewardship activities.

The fourth grade curriculum focuses on adaptation and interdependence.
The fifth grade curriculum explores communities and competition.
The sixth grade curriculum investigates the topic of biodiversity.
Studies have shown that students who learn about the world around them through hands-on lessons better retain and understand concepts. Visit our Photo Gallery to see the Mighty Acorns® in action.

The Mighty Acorns curriculum:
• builds knowledge and skills in ecological restoration
• is correlated to the Illinois State Learning Standards.
• includes pre- and post- classroom lessons that compliment the stewardship activities.
• content is guided by the core concepts of ecology appropriate for students in grades four through six.

Education does not stop at the end of the school year, but continues during the summer at Mighty Acorns Summer Camps.
