Chicago Wilderness Excellence in Conservation Award 2006

The Mighty Acorns® Partnership was the 2006 recipient of the Chicago Wilderness Excellence in Conservation award in the Projects, Programs and Initiatives category. Recipients were chosen for their exceptional contributions in protecting biodiversity in the Chicago Wilderness region. The following excerpt is from the Chicago Wilderness award report:

The Mighty Acorns Partnership is an outstanding example of creative partnerships. The program introduces more than 8,000 students annually to fresh air and to fresh ideas and may be inspiring our future biologists, ecologists, and restoration volunteers. The program continues to grow and has more than 20 partners in the region from the Wisconsin border to northwestern Indiana.
